Puttering around my part of the world last week. I love the quality of the light here in the Fall. I am so grateful to live in such beauty.
So we had a beautiful weekend. One of those mountain weekends that seem to have been missing in the last few years of odd weather. Crisp, sunny days. Did I spend several hours on the back deck with my eyes closed? You betcha! So you may be asking yourself, “what does that have to do with clutter”? Good question grasshopper. Once I began to get my mind uncluttered, I looked around and my house was a big mess. So I decided to clean out closets. Big deal right? But here’s the thing, I find it almost impossible to get rid of stuff. I’m not one of those cat ladies yet, but I always think to myself. “Hey self, I could use that”. And I can. But do I really need to? No.
I’m a firm believer that you have to declutter to create flow. Flow of prosperity, flow of creativity. Flow people!! You have to make room for new things to come in. However; my house does not match that belief. No my house is on a par with one of those shops like “Needful Things”. Clutter drives me nuts, and yet I don’t want to deal with it. It’s another one of those situations where the universe gives you exactly what you need to practice. Only I don’t want to practice decluttering( which is exactly why I should).
So I decided yesterday that the lesson, for me, is letting go. Ugghh. And then I decided that I should only do that in small steps. lol. See how I back away from what we all have to do in life? Yep, so the way I dealt with all that, in case you are wondering, I decided I didn’t really need to let go of much and then went ahead and decluttered my huge walk in closet. I got rid of five large trash bags of clothes for good will. The whole time telling myself that I would stop soon. Sometimes you have to trick yourself in order to fly. True story.
