So tomorrow I am 50. Yippee! I’m not one of those women who laments the passing years. Oh no sirree bob tail!!. Because consider the alternative. But I am one of those women who wonders sometimes how time can fly so quickly by. I am one of those. When I think about the days and months and years I spend in my head, thinking about what I am creating, or dreaming about the exact color of yellow in yesterdays sunset, or the colors that make up a black cat’s fur…laughter….well then I can understand how time just sort of flies. It’s because I am busy in my imagination and can I just say that time does not have the same effect there as it does here. It just doesn’t. So anyway…birthdays and such. This year is a big year for birthdays. My twin and I will be 50. My mother is turning 70. I have a stepdaughter who turned 30, and a son turning 16. All milestones and momentous occasions. So I decided to make a list. You know as a sort of map of what I’m grateful for in my life. Read on if you’re interested…if not…well then have a great day!!!
I’m grateful for family. Nothing better in the whole world. Those people you can laugh with and count on, grieve for and with, learn from. Love, spend time with, and be your best and worst with. You hear that family? I’m most grateful for you!!
Art. Mine and everyone else’s. It brightens my life and my walls and my journals. Art keeps my mind active and learning. I can express my joy and anger, my soul and beliefs, travel to other worlds, visit history, and let my mind soar. Oh yes I am grateful for Art in all it’s many forms!!!
The smell of peppermint and cedar and lavender. I love, love the smell of grass and lemon, incense and potpourri. Soy candles and roses. The smell of the wind after a storm. The smell of bacon on Sunday morning. The smell of apple trees blossoming.
I’m grateful for kids and pets and friends. I’m grateful for memories, and photographs to help me remember them. I’m grateful for mystery and synchronicity and the wisdom to recognize both. I’m grateful for lessons….the worst and the best have taught me something about myself and why I’m here in this time and place. I’m grateful for the technology that allows me to send out my gratitude to the universe and strangers that I have never met. I’m grateful for the huge and the miniscule.
And today…I’m grateful to be having another birthday and to be celebrating and surrounded by the people I love and those that love me!!
