Invest in yourself!

So, this is the message I got today loud and clear.   IT seems that we as women don’t do that enough.  We’re always taking care of the kids or the house or the pets, or something or someone else.  Some time ago, I signed up for a business course on Goddessguidebook.com.  I peeped into it a couple of times, read this or that….and then got busy with all of the other stuff in my life.   But I still had the course materials.  So last week..I thought…why not?  Well you know how information really means something to you when you need to hear it?  This time I heard it loud and clear which is why I have this website up and running now.  Thats all thanks to Leonie Dawson!  I’m just saying there are some solid gold tips in there for taking your business to the whole next level.  And I haven’t even finished reading up and studying up on it all.  If you want to head over to her site….just click on the link to your right.  I can tell you one thing, you will not be wasting your time or your money.  She rocks and her message rocks!

Believe

so here’s the thing.  You have to believe right?  Somewhere on the continuum between facts and faith….resides belief.  Especially if you’re an artist.  Especially then.  You have to know that someone, somewhere will look at what you put out into the world, the little snippets of your soul that you’ve sent out like butterflies and recognize them for what they are.  You have to know that you can continue to spread art cooties even when no one recognizes them for what they are.  Because you know each little snippet for what it is….. a declaration of why you’re here on earth.  It’s your calling, your communication with something greater than yourself, your passion, your love letter to the universe.  All those and …it’s some paint on paper or canvas. Now that can be classified as real magic.  True story.

Memorial Day

Spent the weekend listening to some young people spread their music cooties to the world.  My son plays in a band called Calculated Error!  You can find them on facebook!  I have to admit he was just too good and the weather was beautiful.  Can’t ask for more than this in a weekend.  Can’t.  The kids and I made a summer bucket list too…some highlights….Go see Lion King Broadway, zip lining, volunteering at the children’s hospital, whitewater rafting (woohoo) trying some new restaraunts in Asheville, Warp tour.  Oh we are going to have a busy summer!  You watch.

It’s Morning here on Orchard Road…la la la

Okay I admit that I am a morning person.  Which is a good thing because some dogs, several cats and sometimes one of the kids wake me up early every morning.  I also have to admit that I’m addicted to photos of apple trees.  My twin sister says “Sissy take photos of something different” but I can’t I’m obsessed.  Raise your hand if this happens to you.  Right?  Easy to get obsessed with certain images. Oh I plan to paint this one soon.  You’ll see.  Those fluffy pink clouds in the sky are just too good not to paint.

So I live in a converted apple shed in the middle of an apple orchard.  On Orchard road. (because what else would it be called?)  This is not quite as cool as it sounds.  lol.  Well it is cool,  but very noisy sometimes. This is an orchard under production.  My husband is a fifth generation apple farmer, a poet, and an author.  You can find his scrumptious work here…http://www.evanwilliamsauthor.com.  Anyways…trucks and tractors and sprayers and what not are all hard at work at all hours of the day and evening.  And then there are those darn trees.  Those shapes that if I could just get it right….on paper or canvas.  It’s a case of apple tree cooties.  I’ve caught them.  For sure.

Why the name?

Several people have asked why the name?  well…some family members.  Here’s the deal…it was so easy to catch cooties when you were young.  Do you remember?  Just touch someone and you had cooties.  Couldn’t we all use some more cooties in our lives today?  I’ve decided to foster world peace by spreading craft cooties.  Just reach out and touch someone with your art or your craft.  Do it today.  Now.  Before you forget.  I promise the world will be more peaceful.
